SmileInspector September, 2026 Release
The September 2026 release opens AI Final Position to every account, includes two refinements with every case, adds AI CBCT segmentation for enterprise customers on request, and fixes attachments that left an undercut.

This release takes work off the technician. AI Final Position is open to every account, every case now includes two refinements, linked to the case they follow, CBCT segmentation can go to the AI for enterprise customers on request, and two production problems are gone: attachments that leave an undercut, and aligners produced for a jaw that already finished.
New
AI Final Position, now open to everyone
Out of limited beta and available on every account. One click gives every tooth a target position, with contacts already redistributed across both jaws. Re-run it at any point and the positions you set by hand carry forward.
- Everything stays editable, and the case continues through attachments, IPR, staging and export as before
- The proposal and its fine tuning are a single undo

AI CBCT Segmentation (enterprise, on request)
Hand the CBCT to the AI and keep working. The job runs in the background, and you collect the result when it is ready.
- Results go straight into Attach CT Roots
- Available to enterprise customers on request. Contact support@smileinspector.io and we will enable it for your account
Refinements
Every case now includes two refinements at no extra cost. A refinement belongs to the case it follows, with patient and doctor details carried across and nothing retyped, so following a case up no longer costs the same as starting a new one.
- Start one from the New Case menu, or from the case in your list
- Aligners cases only, and a refinement cannot itself be refined

Margin Line Editor
A gum that comes out wrong is now something you fix. Edit where the crown ends and the root begins, and the gingiva is rebuilt from the boundary you set.
Distance measurement
Measure point to point anywhere on the model, with a chain mode for a run of points.
Updates
Attachments that leave no undercut
An attachment on a curved tooth used to hang above the surface, and that undercut is what ruins the part at printing or thermoforming. Bottoms now sit flush. On by default at export, with a preview so you can check the correction first.
Skip passive stages
Stop producing aligners nobody wears. Stages a jaw is no longer treated on are left out of the export, so no models, matrices, aligners or fillers are made for them. Off by default.
CBCT
- Switch stages in Root Protrusion without waiting for the bone heat map to recompute
- Bone extraction threshold set per jaw
- One button to undo a bad merge of crowns and CT roots
- The largest DICOM series in a study is picked automatically
Export
- Setup name in the filename, so exports from one case are never confused
- Close the case as part of the export
- Trimline visibility stays where you put it
Fillers
- Color and opacity per filler, and hide the others while you work on one
- Remove the central plane, and add or remove contour points
Interface
- Redesigned New Case menu
- Per axis scaling in Dental Object Control
- Comment times in your own time zone
- New icons and sculpting brush colors
Doctor Viewer and mobile
- An approved revision becomes the main one, so nobody works from a superseded plan
- Compact layout, working on screen keyboard, legible tooth numbers and larger controls on phones
Fixes
Fixes across staging, CBCT, pontics, fillers and the viewers.
